Memory/T-Shirt Quilts
Sat., Sept. 6, 13, 20 & 27 ~ 10:00am - 12:30pm
Memory Quilts, also known as Keepsake and T-Shirt Quilts are an absolutely wonderful keepsake and heirloom to keep for yourself or make as a gift!
• You can create these quilts out of old concert tee shirts or really any t-shirt from sports games to rallies to fundraisers tees.
• How about babies ~ take a child's outgrown clothing and create a sweet quilt for the parents, grandparents, aunt or even for the child take to collage when they are grown.
• Some are made from clothing of a passed loved one to keep their memory, texture and color of their clothing close to us.
Participants will utilize personal garments and fabric to create a block quilt that will be lap, crib, twin or full sized. Instruction will be provided in how to cut and re-purpose clothing to create blocks for the quilt. We will also discuss the best needles, stabilizers, batting and padding to use and cover some basic quilting stitches like stitch-in-the-ditch and top-stitching. * Please see photo above to gain a better understanding of the design format we will be following.
Because this course is a bit more personalized and everyone works at a different pace we can not guarantee completion of your quilt in class. However, all students will be provided steps to complete at home if needed. *At home work is given between each class. The larger the quilt you are creating the more at home work time will be needed. *There will be about 1 - 3 hours of out of class time between classes.
Class Cost: $255. A supply list will be sent about two weeks before your course. Leave With: A quilt and the skills to make more Instructor: Mikala Cash Prerequisite: Intro to Quilting Course or equivalent experience.
