Clothing Classes

Do you want to learn to sew your own clothing and create really cool, well fitted pieces? Well you can in our Clothing Classes !  Whether you’re interested in fashion design, clothing construction, clothing design or sewing your own clothing, these clothing classes will provide you with a solid foundation in technique and assist with helping you develop your own aesthetic. With any array of supplied patterns and clothing classes offered students have the opportunity to gain experience with a variety of fabrics like sheer, stretch, knits and more!

Over the course of a year we offer a variety of clothing courses that build on the skills learned in our lower level courses. Please note prerequisites for each class below. There could be up to three hours of out of class work between classes. If 'at home work' is not completed we can not guarantee you will finish your project.


All Courses Will Cover: 

    • How to read a store bought clothing pattern
    • How to select a store bought pattern for your size
    • Learn how to then fit the pattern to your size and make adjustments
    • Terminology used in clothing patterns
    • Gain experience working with three dimensional project
    • Discuss weight loss and gain wardrobe adjustment 
    • Finishing techniques like; hemming, surged edges, facing, top stitching and more 

All Classes Will Leave With:  *A sewing pattern  *Finished project  *List of sewing terminology  *List of over 30 local fabric stores *Information and visuals regarding different needles and when to use them  

Bring your own sewing machine or borrow one from the studio for a onetime $10 fee.  



Wraps / Ponchos

Wednesday, January 2, 9 & 16 ~ 6pm - 7:55pm

In.our Wraps/Ponchos course students will work from the same pattern to create a wrap that's fits their style and size. Wraps can be loose or more fitted with various lengths. Sew closed, incorporate button closures or toggles. This is a great opportunity to work with double faced fabrics and and double cloth fabrics. Chunky or smooth weaves and various other soft, warm materials while learning how to use the appropriate needles and techniques for the fabric you choose.

Course Cost: $95 + $13 fee brought to the first class in the form of cash or check is applied toward pattern and supplies. It does not cover the cost of fabric or notions. In our first class we will discuss what fabric and notions you will need to bring to your second class.

Pajama Bottoms

Saturday, January 5, 12 & 19 ~ 10:30am - 12:30pm

In our Pajama Bottoms Course  students will learn to make either long or short pajama bottoms with draw string or elastic waist. We'll cover fit, fabric, needle selection, how to create casings for draw strings or elastic, finishing details and so much more! Learn how to sew with an array of fabrics from laundered cottons to fleece to knits.

Course Cost: $98 + $13 fee brought to the first class in the form of cash or check is applied toward pattern and supplies. It does not cover the cost of fabric or notions. In our first class we will discuss what fabric and notions you will need to bring to your second class.

Spring Tunic Tops

Thursday, March 28, April 4, 11 & 18 ~ 6pm - 8:55pm

In this shirts course  students will work from the same pattern to create a lovely tunic top. This is a great course to work with a variety of fabrics from knits to stretch, linen to silks while learning how to use the appropriate needles and techniques for the fabric you choose. We'll focus on fit with the option of keeping it loose fitting or taking it in a bit for a more fitted look. Pockets are optional but look really great as a design detail and a good skill to learn.

Course Cost: $125 + $13 fee brought to the first class in the form of cash or check is applied toward pattern and supplies. It does not cover the cost of fabric or notions. In our first class we will discuss what fabric and notions you will need to bring to your second class.

Winter Skirts

In our Winter Skirts  course students will work from one pattern to create either a long, mid-length or short skirt. In addition to all the points above students will also learn how to install an invisible zipper for their skirt. This is a great opportunity to work with heavier weight fabrics like denim, corduroy, wool and more!

Course Cost: $155 + $13 fee brought to the first class in the form of cash or check is applied toward pattern and supplies. It does not cover the cost of fabric or notions. In our first class we will discuss what fabric and notions you will need to bring to your second class. 

Level 2 Clothing Course:  Prerequisite: Completion of any Level 1 Clothing Course  or equivalent experience.

Fall Shirts

In our Fall Shirts  course students will have several shirts to choose from to create long or short sleeve shirts, fitted or loose with various necklines and lengths. This is a great opportunity to work with chunky or smooth knits and various other soft, warm materials while learning how to use the appropriate needles and techniques for the fabric you choose.

Course Cost: $160 + $13 fee brought to the first class in the form of cash or check is applied toward pattern and supplies. It does not cover the cost of fabric or notions. In our first class we will discuss what fabric and notions you will need to bring to your second class. 

Level 2 Clothing Course:  Prerequisite: Completion of any Level 1 Clothing Course  or equivalent experience.

Participants can choose from six different dress patterns with various necklines and lengths. This is a great opportunity to work with knits and various other stretch materials while learning how to use the appropriate needles and techniques for the fabric you choose.

Our Maxi Skirt  course is perfect for those who want to learn to work with clothing patterns with out the longer commitment. Participants will choose from three different maxi skirt options with various lengths. You'll work with various stretch fabrics while learning how to use the appropriate needles and techniques for the fabric you choose.

Course Cost: $155 + $13 fee brought to the first class in the form of cash or check is applied toward pattern and supplies. It does not cover the cost of fabric or notions. In our first class we will discuss what fabric and notions you will need to bring to your second class.
