Henna is a plant native to northern Africa, western and southern Asia and northern Australia. The name henna also refers to the dye prepared from the plant and the art of temporary body art (staining) based on those dyes. It has been used across the globe for over 6,000 years for body art, adornment, fabric dyeing, hair dye, medicine and more. The paste, made from the leaves is placed on the skin which eventually dries and crumbles away. The result is the pretty orange/reddish stain left behind. It tends to last one to three weeks and the dye will continue to darken within 48 hours.
Come join Mikala for a fun and informative afternoon of henna design. Everyone will be given their own kit to work with and to bring home for future creations. Mikala will discuss the supplies used, tips and tricks and plenty of practice will be done before designing on ourselves. Bring a friend and design on one another or do your own designs on yourself.

Restorative Yoga with Laurel Marsh
Date: Friday, July 31st
Come unwind and unplug from your scheduled week to relax and embrace some well-deserved “me” time. This workshop will allow you to open and harmonize your body and mind in a safe and comfortable environment. Taking the time to reconnect with yourself is something we tend to overlook in our busy lives.
In this restorative yoga class, your body will comfortably be supported with pillows and/or a blanket to ensure muscular release. In these supported postures, attention is drawn to breath, which allows the body to soften, and the nervous system to shift from fight and flight (sympathetic) to rest and digest(parasympathetic). Class will begin with a short meditation to ground and center the mind and body. We will then move into a slow flow to wake up your muscles and release tension, progressing into longer, supported postures to deepen your experience. This workshop will help to decrease stress and discomfort, improve circulation and range of motion providing an opportunity to slow down and observe; leaving you feeling calm and recharged for your weekend ahead. Open to all levels, no prior experience required. Please bring at least two medium to large semi-firm pillows and one blanket.
Laurel is a certified Yoga Instructor who has been practicing for 8 years and teaching for 2 years. She completed her Advanced Apprenticeship with Jacqui Bonwell and Restful Yoga training with Sandy Kalick in 2014.
