Our Fiber Arts Courses moves us away from the common straight stitch on our machines and into a creative and exploratory world. Using natural and synthetic fibers such as cotton fabrics, wool, felt and yarns, hand stitching and machine stitching students will create anything from fabric vessels to wall hangings to decorations. New courses are added seasonally so students can learn a range of skills and find enjoyment working with textiles and yarns in a variety of fun ways! 

Embroidered Felted Wool Messenger Bag

Friday, March 6, 13, 20 & 27 ~ 6pm - 7:55pm

There are dozens of beautiful functional and decorative stitches that can be done by machine or hand. This class will take you on a creative journey away from our common straight stitch and into a world of delightful decorative stitches like Colonial knots, blanket stitches, whip stitches and over stitches. These stitches will all be done by hand upon wool felt. We’ll start the course off practice stitching, then we'll move onto our flower pattern as seen in the photo and end with creating a wonderful messenger bag out of wool felt. 

Leave With: One completed bag, Instructions to make more, List of over 40 local fabric stores

Class Cost: $130 + $20 materials fee. Feel free to bring your own sewing machine or borrow one from the studio for a one-time $10  *There may be up to three hours total of "out of class" time required for this course.

Prerequisite:  Sewing 100  or equivalent experience

Fabric Bowls & Trivets

Thursday, March 19 & 26 ~ 6pm - 7:55pm

What happens when you combine fabric scraps, rope and a zigzag stitch? Well…….beautiful pieces of fiber art of course! Explore working with fabric in a whole new way while creating these delightful bowls and trivets! Students will learn how to use their zig-zag stitch, wrap fabric and tips and tricks on how to begin and finish these pieces. This is a great project to use up some of your fabric scraps or purchase new and coordinate with the room you plan to display your pieces of art.

Leave With: Two completed projects, List of over 40 local fabric stores

Class Cost: $64 + $10 materials fee. Feel free to bring your own sewing machine or borrow one from the studio for a one-time $5 fee. 

Prerequisite:  Sewing Patterns 101 or equivalent experience  * Please note this course may be more difficult for those with hand and wrist limitations.
