* Studio Assistant Position *

We are looking to fill the exciting and dynamic role of Studio Assistant!

The Creative Sewing Studio is looking for a part-time, self-motivated individual who can assist with a variety of tasks and work closely with the owner and other studio staff. This energetic and inspiring position could be perfect for a creative type who loves variety and the challenges and rewards that come with working for a growing small business.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

In The Community:
  • Expanding upon current public outreach, programs and marketing outlets
  • Developing deeper and creating new relationships with current organizations
  • Representing The Studio at off site events like farmers markets, art fairs and collaborations with colleagues
  • Assisting/running off site Sewing & Art Workshops at multiple locations
In Studio:
  • Substitute children’s sewing instructor
  • Assist with lower level Sewing & Art classes 
  • Piece work and demo development
  • Ordering and organization of supplies
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people
  • Be comfortable working with and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Be able to multi-task, work efficiently and stay organized
  • Have sewing experience. Art experience and/or appreciation is a plus.
  • Be open to new, revenue-generating opportunities as they present themselves
  • Have experience using social media outlets
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs
  • Have a vehicle large enough to transport equipment and supplies for offsite events
  • Be kind, positive, outgoing, patient and a team player

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in a workplace that required similar skill sets is required. Compensation is based on experience. This position requires some evenings and weekends. Hours will vary from 10 – 20 hours a week and is an hourly position.

* Visiting Artist Positions *

We value the skill, passion and creativity each of our Visiting Artists brings to the studio! The dedication to their craft and joy of sharing it with others is something we are looking to expand upon in 2020. To date we've hosted art workshops in Calligraphy, Painting, Art Journaling, Knitting, Crochet, Jewelry Design, Glass Etching, Mosaics and Mediation to name a few. 

We are looking to expand our already dynamic Art Instructor positions to include but not limited to: Quilling, Watercolors, Dried Flower Arrangements, Fiber Arts, Rug Hooking, Henna Design, Cross-Stitch and Stained Glass.

Typically our Creative Art Workshops  are held on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. These workshops generally meet once or twice and are scheduled for 2 – 4 hours. We are also interested in expanding some of these workshops into weekly offerings during the week. 

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people 
  • Be comfortable working with deadlines and minimal supervision
  • Be able to multi-task, work efficiently, stay organized 
  • Have experience using social media outlets
  • Be kind, positive, outgoing, and a patient team player
  • Have schooling, previous employment, teaching and/or enrichment in your chosen medium is desirable
